The federal government is trying to make sure 35,000 auto service technician jobs nationwide are filled. The Department of Labor has projected a shortage of skilled technicians entering the field for the next six years. These openings are due to rapid industry growth and the need to replace retiring workers. Typically, these positions offer a competitive salary, benefits, mobility and job security. UAW-LETC and it's partnerships with Toyota and AAMCO Transmissions and numerous other automotive and trucking companies fills this need by providing Advanced Automotive Training to young people enrolled in the Job Corps Program.

The old stereotype of the grease monkey at mom and pop's gas station is gone. Today's technician is not just someone who rebuilds or replaces parts. They are now also computer diagnostic technicians.

Many secondary schools have cut back on their vocational training, leaving shortages in many trade fields. The auto industry isn't willing to sit and wait for young people to come to them, so it's looking for a few good men and women and UAW-LETC Advanced Automotive Training Program can help. This is good news for Job Corps students who are driven to learn all they can about cars and trucks.

The motor vehicle repair industry needs responsible employees with advanced technical skills and computer literacy. In order to develop and fine-tune these abilities, candidates for automotive careers must be trained. Picking the right program is important for success. This is where a motivated Job Corps student seeking training in the automotive or truck repair industry is at an advantage. The UAW-LETC Program offers a high quality cost free automotive education.
